When you log into your Gmail or Google account, that also signs you into many of Google's products including the Chrome browser. So even if you didn't actively sign into Chrome, you might have already.
Why You Might Want to Sign Out of Chrome
It's important to log out of Chrome and other programs when using a public computer or even a friend or family member’s since the browser stores an array of private information which can include credit card numbers, passwords, browsing history, and more.
You might also want to log out of Chrome before letting someone else borrow your device since the autofill on the browser search bar can also be revealing, showing your search history. Just type “what is” into your search bar and see what it fills in (it’s likely to be at least a little embarrassing).
Finally, since you can log into multiple devices at once, it’s good to do an audit of where you’re signed in, such as an old work computer or a device you no longer own.
Here’s how to sign out of Chrome whether you have access to the device or not.
Sign Out of Chrome on Your Desktop or Smartphone
On a computer, you can sign out of Chrome, and your Google account, from most Google websites (look for your Google profile photo on the top right of the page) or by opening a blank tab.
From a blank tab, click your profile photo on the top right, then click Sign out. To sign out from your smartphone:
Turn Off Syncing for Chrome
Another method is to turn off sync, which backs up a range of data to your Gmail address, such as browser extensions, passwords, browsing history, and bookmarks. While it’s convenient to carry this information from device to device, you can turn this functionality off, or limit the types of data that are saved.
Disabling sync also signs you out of Google Account services.
You can also turn off syncing for Chrome from your smartphone.
Turn Off Chrome Sign-In
When you sign in to your Google Account from any app, such as Gmail or Google Drive, you’re automatically signed in to Chrome by default. If you don’t want this to happen, you can adjust the settings on your computer.
Log Out of Chrome Remotely
Finally, it’s possible that you’ve signed into Chrome on one or more devices that you don’t have access to anymore. Luckily, you can remotely sign out of Chrome from your computer by removing access to it.
When you remove access from Chrome, that signs you out of any computer or device you’ve used, including the one you’re using now. You can allow access again next time you launch Chrome.

Unfortunately, there is no hardware button on the type cover or on the Surface Pro itself that would result in a middle click out of the box, so you are going to have to sacrifice some other key or key sequence to get middle click. For example, with AutoHotkey, you can 'remap' a simultaneous left and right click (this may actually be hard to pull off with the Type Cover touchpad; I have one, and it's hard enough to click a single button!) to a middle click. Surface 3 right click. You can use one of several available methods for remapping. So you'll basically have to try a bunch of different ways and key combinations until you find one you can live with.Or get an external USB or bluetooth mouse that has a middle mouse button or the ability to 'click' the scroll wheel, and forget about the type cover's touchpad. Or, you could remap something like Ctrl+Left-Click to a middle click. The contains more information how to do this using various methods, including a 'pure' Windows Registry edit that has nothing to do with AHK and appears to work better in some situations / for some programs.

Previously when using the Chrome browser, users could sign into various Google websites like Gmail, Docs, or Drivewithout needing to sign into the Chrome browser itself. Starting in Chrome 69, however, Google quietly introduced an “auto sign-in” feature that would automatically sign you into Chrome when you signed into a Google website.
This was frustrating for many users, as some users prefer to use only a local account in Chrome. Or they may share the browser with other users and don’t want to leave their account signed in. Worst of all was the fact that auto sign-in couldn’t be turned off. At least, until now. Google thankfully listened to user feedback and, starting in Chrome 70, users can disable Chrome auto sign-in. Here’s how. Disable Chrome Auto Sign-in
First make sure that you’re on Chrome 70 or newer. You can check your Chrome version by clicking the icon with the three dots in the upper-right corner and selecting Help > About Google Chrome.
To disable Chrome auto sign-in, click that three dots icon again and select Settings. Alternatively, enter chrome://settings into the address bar. Scroll down to the bottom of the Settings page and click Advanced. Then find the option labeled Allow Chrome sign-in and click its toggle switch to disable it. Relaunch Chrome as instructed and when the browser reopens, you should find yourself logged out. If you’re not, head back to the Settings screen and click Turn Off next to your account, which is Google’s way of saying “turn off syncing and sign out.” With Chrome auto sign-in disabled, you can sign into Google sites like Gmail or Docs and, just like in older versions of Chrome, remained signed out of the browser. Keep in mind that auto sign-in appears to be enabled by default in the current version of Chrome, so while you can turn it off, you’ll need to remember to do so when setting up a new browser to avoid unintentionally linking your account.
